What can cause TMJ?
Temporomandibular joint disorder can be caused by overuse of jaw such chewing, braces and improper alignment of jaw and teeth. You can also be more prone to it if you grind you teeth at night.
What are common signs?
- Pain or tenderness of your jaw
- Aching pain in and around you ear
- Difficulty chewing
- Aching facial pain
What type of exercise can help TMJ relief?
Tongue lifts:
- Opening and closing you mouth SLOWLY!, while keeping your tongue reaching roof of mouth
Jaw slide side-to-side:
- Bite down gently on teeth with an object around quarter inch thick like a popsicle stick
- Additional up the thickness as the exercise gets “easier” over time
