What can cause Dizziness and Vertigo?
Dizziness can be caused by a variety of things such as Motion sickness, Anxiety, Depression, Ear Infection, Concussion, Panic attacks and Migraines. Vertigo is the feeling of movement or a spinning sensation while the body is at rest, other causes can be after experiencing trauma to the neck or head.
What are common signs of Dizziness and Vertigo?
- A false sense of motion or spinning
- Lightheadedness or feeling faint
- Unsteadiness or a loss of balance
- Unsteadiness or a loss of balance
- Unsteadiness or a loss of balance
- A feeling of floating, wooziness or heavy-headedness
What type of Exercise can help Dizziness and Vertigo?
Vertigo exercises (*note, these exercises only work if dizziness and/or vertigo is caused by a problem in the inner ear*)
Epley Maneuver
- Sit upright in a bed, place legs straight ahead and put a pillow behind you
- Turn your head 45 degrees to one side
- Lie down quickly so that ur shoulders are on the pillow, wait for dizziness to subside, then wait another 30 seconds
- Turn head 90 degrees to the right and hold for 30 seconds
- Turn body until lying on right side, wait for dizziness to subside and wait 30 seconds
- Sit upright on bed
Walk and turn around exercise
- Walk 5 steps
- Turn around and walk back
- Wait 10 seconds for dizziness to go away
- Repeat 5 times
- Do this exercise 2-10 times or
Walk and turn your head exercise
- Walk for about 50 feet turning head in various directions (up, down, left, right) every other step
- Repeat walking 50 feet, but only turn head up and down every other step
- Repeat walking 50 feet, but only turn head left and right every other step
